Dr. Apoorva Shah’s Journey
Dr. Apoorva Shah’s Story
Dr. Apoorva Shah’s story began with an unexpected phone call in 2000 from Pradeep Guha, President of Bennett Coleman & Co. With just 15 days to go before the Femina Miss India contest, one contestant faced a hair emergency. Dr. Shah, along with his wife Dr. Sonal Shah, stepped in to help, and Celina Jaitley, the contestant, went on to win the crown, marking the beginning of their partnership with Miss India.
From humble beginnings, Dr. Shah was inspired by his father, a doctor who specialized in repairing women’s earlobes. This entrepreneurial spirit led him to create "Dr. Shah’s Hair Tonic" in medical college. What started as an effort to impress a girl turned into a successful product that salons across Mumbai were eager to stock.
After medical college, the Shahs decided to take a bold step—shifting focus from their hospital internships to pursue hair care professionally. They trained in London to become India’s first certified Trichologists, and soon, they opened their own practice inside a beauty parlour. This led to the birth of Richfeel, which has since grown into a renowned brand with over 89 centers across India.
But it wasn’t always easy. With struggles and decisions like focusing solely on hair and moving away from retail, Richfeel grew steadily, driven by hard work, focus, and a team that treated the business as their own family. Today, Richfeel is not just a business; it’s a legacy of helping people regain their confidence, one hair strand at a time.
Dr. Apoorva Shah is not just India's first certified Trichologist — he is a visionary who redefined the concept of hair wellness. With over 50 years of dedication to Trichology, he has helped millions across the country regain confidence through healthier hair. As the founder of Richfeel Naturals, Dr. Shah's legacy spans over 89 clinics & countless success stories.
The doc who never tires – and who attributes his success to his team, sums it all up with a line from an old Hindi song: ‘Ek Akela thak jaayega, milkar bhoj uthana… Saathi haath badhana!’ (A solitary person could tire out, so let’s join forces… extend a hand friend!)’
